Snake Goddess of Ancient Egypt

Renenutet is also known as Renenut, Termuthis and Emutet. She also mistaken for Wajet but it's believed that at some point the two goddesses were joined. She was a Cobra goddess from the Delta. A powerful goddess who's gaze destroyed her enemies. The Egyptians had no need to fear her as she was a protector in many areas of their life.

Her name may derive from the words 'mn' (to nurture or nurse) and 'wtt' (snake), others suggest it could come from 'mnt' that means 'fortune' or 'riches'. Another possibility is that 'rn' stands for 'name'. The belief is that the confusion rose when she was merged with a seperate snake goddess named 'Renenut', or their names were confused by Historians.
